It is inevitable that bereavement and grief will affect us all at some point in our lives. Grief is a natural response to loss and is different for everyone.
When someone in a Welsh farming family dies, we often feel that loss as a community. There may be added pressure for a grieving family to keep the farm going. The support from family, friends, and the community at this time can give people a space to grieve.
People may experience a wide range of emotions following the loss of a loved one, and it can sometimes be difficult to know what to say or how to support them. This training course will give you an understanding of how people might experience bereavement and grief, including bereavement following an unexpected death like an accident or suicide. It will help you understand the things you can say that might help (and those that might not), what support to offer, how to spot the signs that someone might need extra support, and that specialist help. You will also learn about the DPJ Foundation’s bereavement support service.
We are grateful to the Welsh Government for fully funding this course, which is open to people living and working in Wales and is aimed at people with an interest in agriculture. This session is in English.
