Find out what is happening to support and protect people affected by sexual violence in Wales.
This half-day event for Sexual Violence Awareness Week, brought to you by New Pathways, aims to showcase some of the work that is being done in Wales* to protect, prevent and support people affected by sexual violence. Speakers will include the police, staff from New Pathways, and survivors of sexual violence.
Outcomes:
We want front-line practitioners to be able to take forward this conversation and knowledge, to ensure better prevention of, and protection from, sexual violence, and ensure the best possible access to support for the people affected.
We want you to leave the event:
- better informed of the services and support available to victims of sexual violence in Wales
- better equipped to support those affected by sexual violence
- feeling positive about moving forward in the fight against sexual violence
Audience:
This event is for front-line practitioners who work directly with victims and survivors of sexual violence, but who aren't directly in the VAWDASV (violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence) sector, such as education, health and social services, both statutory and charitable. As the sector is moving so quickly, we are aware that you may not always be aware of these progressions, but, as front-line workers, you are often the vital conduit of support for victims of sexual violence to come forward.
Content:
At this event, speakers will be talking about initiatives such as:
- Better supporting victims who report to the police
- Supporting male victims of sexual violence
- Dealing with disclosures of sexual violence
- Remote court evidence sites
- Trauma stabilisation support work
