New Carmarthenshire IT Support Group Launches Thanks to Welsh Lottery Funding
A new friendly community IT support group is launching in Carmarthen this March to help local residents who are struggling with everyday technology.
CANDO – Carmarthen & Aberystwyth Neurodiverse Outreach has announced that its new Carmarthenshire IT Project Digital Support Group will officially begin on Monday 16th March at:
The Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre
Building 1, Parc Dewi Sant
Carmarthen
SA31 3HB
The IT group will run from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, following CANDO’s established neurodiverse peer-support session which runs from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
Sessions will take place on the first and third Mondays of every month.
Friendly, Calm IT Support
The group is designed to support anyone who feels overwhelmed by technology, including those struggling with:
-
Online forms
-
GP or NHS systems
-
Emails
-
Video calls
-
Smartphones, laptops or computers in general
The sessions are small, friendly and supportive, offering calm, patient guidance rather than formal classroom teaching.
CANDO, which has been operating locally for two years, supports neurodiverse and disabled adults across the region and has identified digital exclusion as a growing issue affecting access to healthcare, benefits, employment and everyday communication.
Jeremy Rundle, Chairman of CANDO, said:
“We see every week how stressful technology can be for people — especially when everything from GP appointments to benefits forms has moved online. This group isn’t about technical jargon. It’s about calm, patient support so people feel confident, not overwhelmed. Thanks to Welsh Lottery funding and the support of Connecting Carmarthenshire, we can now offer that help locally.”
Made Possible Through Community Support
The launch of the Carmarthenshire IT Project has been made possible thanks to funding from the Welsh Lottery, alongside a £1,000 donation from Connecting Carmarthenshire.
CANDO would also like to thank The Living Well Centre, Carmarthen, and Tesco Aberystwyth, whose continued support in providing community venues has made both the neurodiverse support sessions and the new IT groups possible.
Aberystwyth Sessions Also Running
CANDO also runs equivalent sessions in Aberystwyth, held in the Community Room at Tesco on Park Avenue (SY23 1PB).
