Cadw Natur Mewn Cof ~ Nature in Mind

We’re delighted to announce that we have been awarded £49,981.37 from The Landfill Disposals Tax Grants to help wildlife and improve biodiversity at Denmark Farm.

This, Landfill Disposals Tax Grants, will support our two year project Cadw Natur Mewn Cof ~ Nature in Mind, starting during the Summer 2019.

The grant will provide us with part time Volunteer Co-ordinator who will run a varied programme of biodiversity improvements and wildlife monitoring. There will be opportunities for volunteer activities and training, community and school group visits to our site. The project will include engagement events, open days and celebration events. We will also be able to develop our wildlife interpretation, carry out a full ecological survey and buy new tools and equipment.

There are opportunities to volunteer with us on this fantastic project. You are very welcome to join our group of volunteers who meet twice a month. There’s also a monthly gardening group. You don’t need to be an expert and you can join us whenever you are able to.

There are lots of benefits to volunteering with us, including working outside in the fresh air, meeting other like-minded people, getting some exercise, learning new skills, having fun, enjoying this beautiful nature reserve and landscape, doing something worthwhile, improving your health and well-being as well as making a difference by helping us to improve Denmark Farm for all its amazing wildlife for the future.

Some of the tasks we get involved with include:

  • coppicing the willow beds
  • maintaining the trails
  • repairing fencing
  • managing the meadows and wetlands
  • carrying out wildlife surveys

This project also has funding to provide opportunities for a number of schools and local community groups to enjoy what Denmark Farm has to offer. If you would like to discuss your ideas for a visit then please get in touch with us.

There are a variety of activities that you can get involved with and help to make Denmark Farm a place for people to visit and for wildlife to live and thrive for the future. We hope that you will want to join us. If you would like more information or would like to come along and get involved please contact us.

Dates for forthcoming volunteer days and training events can be found here.
