‘Bywyd Gwyllt A Natur’

Printiau Leino gan Jonah Evans

Mae Jonah Evans yn dod o Forth. Mae o newydd wedi cwblhau blwyddyn cyntaf gradd celfyddydau cain yn UWE ym Mryste. Yn ogystal â thynnu lluniau, peintio, gwneud printiau a dyfeisio tatŵs, mae o’n mwynhau cerdded yn y mynyddoedd, seiclo, rhedeg ac, yn ddiweddar, syrffio.

‘Rwy’n ffindio ysbrydoliaeth ym myd natur a’m cyffiniau. Mae bywyd gwyllt – adar yn enwedig – wedi bod yn ffocws i’m printiau leino. Wnes i mwynhau rhythmau a phatrymau eu plu. Mae ‘na gydbwysedd a chymesuredd hyfryd mewn ffurfiau naturiol. Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diweddar, wrth byw ym Morth, rwyf wedi datblygu fy ngwethfawrogiad o’r dirwedd hon. Teimlaf yn egnioledig mond drwy nofio yn y môr neu dringo mynyddoedd uchel. Mae Cadair Idris wedi dod yn hoff dirwedd hardd i mi i’w harchwilio ac i ddod yn ol iddi.’

Yn ystod ei amser ym Mryste mae o wedi arbrofi sawl dechneg brintio. Mae o’n aelod o Argraffwyr Aberystwyth, a hefyd wedi arddangos ei waith mewn sawl arddangosfa gymysgedig.  Mae o wedi arddangos yng Nhymru, Ffrainc ac yn ddiweddar ym Mryste. Ar hyn o bryd mae o’n gweithio ar greu argraffiad printiau i’w gynnwys mewn ‘bwystawr’, rhan o gydweithrediad efo argraffwyr o Awstralia.

‘Wildlife And Nature’

Lino Prints by Jonah Evans

Jonah Evans comes from Borth and has just completed his first year studying Fine Art at UWE Bristol. Besides drawing, painting, print-making and designing tattoos he enjoys mountain walking, cycling, running and, more recently, surfing.

‘I find inspiration in nature and my surroundings. Wildlife, particularly birds, have been a focus for my lino printing. I enjoyed the rhythms and patterning in their plumage. There is a beautiful balancing and symmetry to be found in natural forms. Over the last few years, whilst living in Borth, I have developed my appreciation of this landscape. I feel energised by simply swimming in the sea or climbing high mountains. Cadair Idris has become a favourite, beautiful landscape to explore and return to.’

While in Bristol he has experimented with different printing techniques. He is a member of the Aberystwyth Printmakers and has exhibited widely in mixed exhibitions. He has also exhibited in France, Wales and more recently in Bristol. At present he is working on producing an edition of prints to be included in a ‘bestiary,’ part of a collaboration with Australian print makers.
