Did you know that over one and a quarter million invertebrate species have been described, but it has been estimated there maybe as many as 30 million? Considering similar estimates for vertebrates put them at just 60,000 species, we certainly live in an invertebrate dominated world.
Join us on July the 6th as we explore the taxonomy of the major terrestrial invertebrate orders, with a great focus on insects and those that can be found at Denmark Farm. We’ll delve into the places of orders in the invertebrate family tree, what makes them unique, but also what they have in common, and this will be topped off with a few easy to identify representatives.
George Ryley, our speaker, is an Ecological Consultant based in Aberystwyth with a passion for invertebrates. This is the first of two talks George will be giving. The second talk, ‘An Introduction to Social Hymenoptera’ – bees, wasps and ants, will be on Tuesday 17th August at 11am.
