Mindfulness in Nature (Forest bathing or ‘shinrin-yoku’ as it is known as in Japan), is a well-being and nature connection practice. It simply means immersing yourself in nature using all of your senses.
Mindfulness in Nature encourages you to slow down, quieten the mind and relax.
For a typical session we have a brief introduction to what Forest Bathing is and answer any questions.
We then start the practice at the 'Threshold' (beginning place) spending some time to ground ourselves and arrive.
A number of invitations (short sensory based activities) are offered, which give you the opportunity to deepen your connection with nature, and to be in the present moment.
After each invitation we come back together as a group to share our experience, observations, feelings. It is entirely optional to share.
To finish the practice we return to the Threshold. We share tea together and some light snacks, reflecting on our experiences for those who wish to.
Research shows that being mindful in nature (Forest Bathing) has many benefits including helping to boost our immune systems, reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve sleep quality, concentration and boost a feeling of well-being.
Everyone is welcome!
